News State's Largest Solar Panel Installation Coming to the Brooklyn Navy Yard

GlobeSt reports that two thirds of that sum will go towards turning three connected buildings into the new Green Manufacturing Center, which will sport the state's largest solar panel installation. The remaining $4.5 million will go to restoring and expanding the old United States Marine Corps Commandant’s residence—now known as Building 92 (pictured)—into a community building and exhibition space.
It's one of only two historical homes in the Navy Yard being restored despite preservationists' claims that picturesque Admiral's Row should also be restored. The entire project is expected to create some 300 "green collar" jobs. Hopefully this means the Navy Yard will also become more accessible to the public, since it's just about the prettiest place in the city.
