Umberto Eco Appointed Louvre Guest Curator and List-Master

Umberto Eco
On my list of fantasy museum curators—you know, people who don't necessarily work in the visual arts but have such interesting tastes that you'd be happy to see whatever crazy shit they think is worth exhibiting—Italian author Umberto Eco (pictured) is probably in the top 5, right between Lady Gaga and Ed Harris (although the latter might just pick Pollocks and the former could simply exhibit her outfits). Nevertheless, Google News reported yesterday that Paris's Louvre mega-museum has just invited Eco to be the guest curator for the next few months.

The novelist and cultural theorist has announced the title of his main exhibition as guest curator: "Vertige de la Liste" (Vertigo of Lists), which runs from November 2 until December 13. An accompanying series of concerts, lectures, readings and tours will also focus on the theme of lists. No word yet on who or what will be included in the exhibition, but given the theme, Ed Ruscha seems like a sure bet. Any other list-y artists Eco should include? (Artinfo)
