The
Honk! Festival, in which roving brass bands took over the town square in Somerville, Massachusetts for its fourth annual edition last weekend has come to Brooklyn for
Bonk!. Though yesterday's planned parade to the midpoint of the Brooklyn Bridge was canceled due to rain, tonight's slate of events, The Brooklyn Brassacre, promises over a half dozen brass bands performing at bars in Greenpoint.
The brassy madness continues Saturday with a waterfront concert in Manhattan, a show at a New Jersey bowling alley and, best of all, a protest parade with Develop Don't Destroy Brooklyn against the Atlantic Yards development in Downtown Brooklyn. Things wind down on Sunday with a brass band potluck picnic in McCarren Park. Click over to Bonk! for more details and up-to-the-minute info on rain locations and the like.
