Exhibition of Christopher Walken Portraits Opens in Chelsea

Walken This Way
Artnet reports that on Friday, New York artist John W. Codling opened a show of about two-dozen recent paintings at fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg's gallery (444 W 14th St) in Chelsea, all of which are portraits of actor and cultural icon Christopher Walken.

Dubbed Sundays with Chris, there's something very Warholian to the show, which renders similar images of Walken in a series of different aesthetics and palettes, from Fauvist and Blue Period Picasso to Jasper Johns and The Joker. My favorite, though, is the one of Walken as a member of Run-D.M.C., cleverly titled "Walken This Way" (pictured). The exhibition of works by the pop painter and Wall Street worker continues through Sunday, and profit from the sale of all artworks goes to the cancer charity Team Continuum.
