$100,000 a Year To Keep Your Koons in Bloom

Jeff Koons Puppy
Buried in a rather lengthy and dry piece in the Connecticut Post about the divorce papers filed by publishing billionaire, art collector, polo team owner, horse-breeder, farm operator and generally obscenely wealthy person Peter Brant and his wife of 14 years, supermodel Stephanie Seymour, is a rather interesting bit of information about the expensive upkeep required by some contemporary artworks.

Brant is the proud owner of Jeff Koons' "Puppy" (pictured), a giant sculpture in the form of a dog covered in flowers that lives on the grounds of his White Birch Farm in Greenwich, CT. Among the various expenses that chip away at Brant's monthly income of $1.5 million (in addition to the $270,000 he's now paying in alimony and child support) is the $75,000 to $100,000 that the Koons puppy needs to stay pretty year after year. Next time you worry that you can't afford to own a pet, just think of Brant living in his Xanadu watering his Koons pup. (Artinfo)
