Art Chelsea Galleries ATM and Freight+Volume Moving in Together

The two galleries will split the relatively tiny space, though it's unclear at this point whether this means they'll present alternating month-long shows or each mount smaller exhibitions in their half of the room—will they draw a line down the middle of the space like feuding roommates? The tone of the email is very optimistic (Lawrence writes: "The galleries will continue to provide exhibitions that are unique; which we expect will be twice as unusual and inspirational as before"), but this seems like a pretty huge compromise. Still, it's better this than either gallery closing, and maybe this way their artists will create some amazing collaborative projects (like, say, Miguel Angelo Rocha's wooden tentacles wrapped around Chris Gilmour's cardboard sculptures).
