
Now, beyond the fact that we probably shouldn't give Kanye too much credit for anything lest he interrupt us mid-praise, it's true that the voice of our generation took a rather public stand against the treatment of homosexuality in rap a few years back, for which he should be commended. On the other hand, to say that the mainstreaming of gay culture (which, come to think of it, followed the mainstreaming of hip-hop culture pretty closely) has nothing to do with the growing acceptance of homosexuality in rap seems a little short-sighted. Of course, then Fergie goes on to predict that BEP will gain all kinds of gay listeners because their "new record is a huge dance record," and gay people only listen to dance music, right? (MTV News)
