Music Leighton Meester Covers "Baby Please Come Home"

Did you know there are now seven of those A Very Special Christmas compilations, even though they stopped being good after the first one? Because it's true, there are. And the most recent installment, out today, features tons of bullshit, like Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, Colbie Caillat and Ashley Tisdale, as well as Sean Kingston doing "Little Drummer Boy," which, fine, I really want to hear. Most importantly, though, it also includes a cover of Darlene Love's "Baby Please Come Home" by none other than Leighton Meester.

As far as Christmas songs go, it's the second best one, narrowly edged out by "Fairytale of New York" and narrowly edging out "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)," so fucking with it is ill-advised. U2 did an amazing cover of it on the original Very Special Christmas, of course, but that was in 1987, when U2 was awesome. There's a 30-second clip of Meester's version after the jump, and from what I can tell, it's not terribly offensive, if only because she takes exactly zero liberties. [via Idolator]
