The Decemberists Release Album-Length Video for The Hazards of Love

Posted by Mike Conklin on Tue, Dec 1, 2009 at 12:05 PM

If I were in the Decemberists, I would definitely be pressuring Colin Meloy to put The Hazards of Love behind us as soon as possible, to start working on new material right away, in hopes that the listening public would soon forget that we'd just released by far the worst record of our career. I'm not in the Decemberists, though, so now they've gone and released Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized, a "full-length video album" that's being sold at iTunes for $7.99. It features animation work by filmmakers—Peter Sluszka, Julia Pott, Guilherme Marcondes and Santa Maria—each of whom provided footage for a different portion of the record. The worst part about this, for me, is that I'm actually really intrigued by the idea, and even more so having watched the trailer above — I just don't want to have to listen to this record again.
