The good people at
Stereogum have gone through the trouble of putting together
a playlist of Christmas songs recorded by indie rock bands. I haven't made my way through all of it just yet, but so far I will vouch for the reggae-tinged "If You Hear a Knock" by NYC's way underrated
Sean Bones, for a shockingly good and not-at-all insulting cover of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" by England's wicked cutesy
Slow Club, and for "Christmas Will Help You Feel OK" by Philadelphia's
Blood Feathers, who will have you thinking, "Wait, did he just say 'I dream of candy canes and ginger ale, and scotchy, scotchy, scotchy scotch/ buried under a tree, hidden in a box'?" And yes, he did. And it is awesome. Now go, download.
