Theater Stanley Tucci Making Broadway Directorial Debut with Lend Me a Tenor

The play tells of a famous opera star coming to perform Otello at a gala fundraiser for the Cleveland Opera, being given a generous dose of tranquilizers only to wake up and find an assistant (our hero Max, still not cast) made-up in blackface for the role of Othello and preparing to take the stage in the opera star's place. Tucci has never directed on the big stage yet, but has helmed four films and was nominated for a Tony for his performance in Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune in 2003. So far, casting for the production includes Anthony LaPaglia, Tony Shalhoub and Brooke Adams.
