The Same Five Artists As Always to Perform on the Grammys

Posted By on Tue, Jan 5, 2010 at 11:24 AM

You've likely just spent a solid 4-6 weeks reading almost nothing but year-end lists, I know, but you're not quite done yet. For the obsessives among us, there's still Pazz & Jop; for everyone else, and I guess also the obsessives, there's the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, taking place on January 31st in Los Angeles. It was announced this morning that the Dave Matthews Band, Green Day and Lady Gaga will be joining a list of performers that already included Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Pink and the Black Eyed Peas.

This is the same list of performers that have appeared on every awards show for what seems like three years now, but I'm pretty much ok with it. It's comforting, like having the same thing for breakfast every day: Lady Gaga will bleed; Pink will break something, unless she does a ballad, in which case she'll cry; Green Day will make me feel really bad for that second guitarist guy they refuse to acknowledge is an actual part of the band; Taylor Swift will play a song that was released in 2008; and the Black Eyed Peas will stand unnecessarily close to one another while performing a medley of songs that no one over the age of 19 could ever possibly enjoy, not even the people performing them.

And then Taylor Swift will win Album of the Year for Fearless, and you won't really be able to complain, because duh. [Rolling Stone]

They're heeeere... That is, more Halloween horror favorites, a Canadian cult classic, and a restored Ken Jacobs film, which he discusses here.

An all-time great continues a theatrical revival run, a bumper crop of October horror, and an extraordinarily rare Kathy Acker film.
