New Pornographers to Release New Album, Together, on May 4

Posted By on Thu, Jan 21, 2010 at 10:52 AM

Word comes from Matador Records this morning that The New Pornographers are set to release their fifth full-length, Together, on May 4th. It was produced by Phil Palazzolo and recorded at studios in Vancouver, Brooklyn, and Upstate New York. A.C. Newman did the bulk of the writing, with nine songs to his credit, while Dan Bejar takes the lead on the other three. All eight full-time members, including Neko Case, took part in the recording, and the list of special guests is bananas: St. Vincent's Annie Clark, Beirut's Zach Condon, Will Sheff from Okkervil River, and the horn section from the Dap Kings. Matador says it's "amazing, more varied, deeper and broader than its predecessors," which sounds nice. Go to the band's website for 100 photos from the recording sessions, and wait patiently for the first single, which they say is coming soon.
