It's been a little over a month since some renegade bike lane painters (pictured) took matters into their own hands in restoring
a bike lane on Bedford Avenue in South Williamsburg that had been foolishly removed by the city. Now that we've all had time to weigh the pluses (a safer street for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers) and minuses (more accidents, more deaths, more sad) of having said bike lane, it's time for a constructive and even-tempered open forum on the subject, to be held this evening
at 7:30pm at Pete's Candy Store (709 Lorimer Street) as part of the bi-monthly Open City Dialogue
Speakers will include Caroline Samponaro of Biking Rules! and Transportation Alternatives; Bike messenger Heather Loop; Hassidic cyclist and founder of Traif Bike Geschaft Baruch Herzfeld; and Satmar representative and the first ever Hasidic City Council Candidate Isaac Abraham.
