New York City residents
overwhelmingly support Bloomberg's plan to tax sugary sodas and reduce salt content in restaurant food. A new Quinnipiac poll reveals that 76 percent of voters in the five boroughs are pleased with the soda tax, while 77 percent support the salt reduction.
This once again confirms that people don't really care about state intervention if they think they get something out of it (in this case, health and fitness). Which is further confirmed by only 36 percent of New Yorkers wanting the 9/11 trial to be under the auspices of a civilian court—because really, the sacred principles of fair and transparent justice are a lot harder to internalize as "good for you."
