La Maitresse de la Tour Eiffel by Michel de Broin
Alright, this is actually from a few months ago (from the night of October 3, 2009, to be exact), but for last year's annual Nuit Blanche party in Paris, Montreal-born, London-based sculptor and installation artist Michel de Broin hoisted a giant disco ball over 24 feet in diameter and covered with 1,000 mirror panels 160 feet into over the Jardin du Luxembourg and hit it with 4 spotlights. The piece, titled "La Maîtresse de la Tour Eiffel" (The Eiffel Tower's Mistress), beamed fragments of light all over the city of lights for the whole night. A much too short video of the installation, after the jump, shows the magical result. (Rhizome)
