Oscar Death Reel Furor: Fans Fume at Unconscionable Snub

My favorite part of the Oscars, the In Memoriam reel, was handled terribly this year, with a smarmy James Taylor strumalong pulling focus from the dead people, and, as was the case last year, a slow pan into the screen so that you missed the first couple of dearly departed. Even more glaringly, as you've no doubt heard plenty about already today, was the omission of a beloved figure in cinema, whose 2009 death hit us all very hard.

I refer, of course, to Robin Wood.

Manny Farber made last year's; it was the highlight of my night, a rare validation of my profession, etc. I understand people are pretty het up about Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur being left out, but I'm less concerned with those snubs than with the one that speaks directly to the cold deep truth of my own eventual oblivion. So.
