We're Destroying Life on This Planet Faster Than It Can Evolve

Way to go us. For the first time ever, the rate of species extinction (driven by human activity) is faster than any of the Earth's organisms can evolve to survive. I don't really have to spell that out for you do I? Here's the scary money quote from the Guardian:
Conservation experts have already signalled that the world is in the grip of the "sixth great extinction" of species, driven by the destruction of natural habitats, hunting, the spread of alien predators and disease, and climate change.

So give yourselves a nice pat on the back and let's all celebrate the planetwide loss of biodiversity. (HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM JAMES "JIM" CAMERON?)
