7.2 Aftershock Hits Chile

Posted by Mark Asch on Thu, Mar 11, 2010 at 11:30 AM

The swearing-in ceremony of new Chilean president Sebastian Pinera was interrupted by an aftershock from last month's 8.8-magnitude earthquake; today's quake registered 7.2 on the Richter Scale (still more massive than the 7.0 earthquake that hit Haiti). No damage has been reported thus far; footage shows the attendees to be "somewhat concerned but mostly unfazed," and the new president cracked a joke.

When will seismologists stop hiding the truth of the impending apocalypse from us?
