No Hope for This Helen Keller: Miracle Worker Closing Sunday on Broadway

Miracle Worker on Broadway
Yesterday, as reported on ArtsBeat, producers from the current Broadway revival of William Gibson's Miracle Worker (first produced on the great white way 50 years ago) announced that the show will close on Sunday, one month and one day after opening and after just less than 60 total performances. Despite starring Abigail Breslin (in a controversial casting choice) as Helen Keller and Allison Pill as Annie Sullivan, the revival was unable to attract much of an audience, due in part to mostly negative reviews. It might also have something to do with the play taking on negative associations after generations of terrible elementary school and amateur productions like this one.
