Last week, after Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz('s assistant) had to get his iPad all the way in Manhattan, he sent Apple CEO Steve Jobs a personalized pitch for an Apple Store in Brooklyn. The idea has been tossed around quite a bit over the years, with sites like the new waterfront towers and the Salvation Army building in Williamsburg, and a location in Dumbo being offered up as possibilities, but still no Apple Store grows in Brooklyn. The video (embedded after the jump) of Marty typing (all by himself!) and sending his email on his shiny new iPad includes much hackneyed acting and a ludicrous cluster of New and Old Brooklyn signifiers, from his pretty hipster assistant to his heavily accented exclamation: "Fuggedaboudit!" (DumboNYC)
This passage from his email is probably the best (meaning worst) part:
Just like Apple, Brooklyn is now an international brand, signifying the coolest place on earth to live, work, play and create.
