- The new Spider-Man musical, after some budget restructuring.
Late-breaking news last night
from ArtsBeat has it that Alan Cumming, the only remaining star slated to appear in the upcoming $50 million Broadway musical
Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (no scheduled opening date), has left the project. Last month Evan Rachel Wood, who was to play Mary Jane (
hey, it's 4/20!) in the Julie Taymor-directed, Bono and The Edge-scored Marvel musical,
dropped out, and now the show has lost its villain, the Green Goblin. Newcomer Reeve Carney is still attached to play Peter Parker, although at this point they might want to rename the show "Spider-Man: Alone in the Dark."
