The wall at the northwest corner of Houston and Bowery had been the site of a
trippy mural by Brazillian brothers Os Gemeos since
last July, but
Bowery Boogie reports that on Friday it was getting whitewashed in preparation for its last paint job in the near future, courtesy Shepard Fairey (pictured). Since being refurbished in 2008 for a
Keith Haring mural, the wall space has been curated by the
soon-to-close Soho gallery Deitch Projects, whose final show is a museum-caliber survey of Fairey's work opening
May 1. The Obama posterizer will reportedly be onsite painting his piece on the April 25, if you want to stop by and get your HOPE posters and OBEY hoodies autographed or something. (
