Team of Superstar Artists Compete in Official Posters for South Africa's 2010 Soccer World Cup

FIFA art posters by William Kentridge, Marlene Dumas and Julie Mehretu

In preparation for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (kick-off on June 11, get pumped!), FIFA commissioned 17 international art stars to design a line of official poster editions. They're a little expensive ($3724.95 for all of 'em, $173 to $350 each), but for the most part quite beautiful, and include contributions from South African artists William Kentridge and Marlene Dumas (above left and center, respectively) and an oldie-but-goodie from Ethiopian-American artist Julie Mehretu (above right). If the posters were in a tournament, the winner would probably be Kentridge for his awesome bicycle kick, or Peter Eastman's moody nocturnal. (ArtInfo)
