Three More Shepard Fairey Murals Going Up Before May Day

Shepard Fairey and Cope2 mural in the Bronx
With his May Day exhibition at Deitch Projects, the gallery's last, set to open Saturday on, um, May Day (good luck getting into that reception!), Shep is working on murals all over town and trying to defend the one at Bowery and Houston at least until the weekend. First up: a collaboration on a mural with graffiti artist Cope2 up in The Bronx (pictured); next up: a new mural in progress at the Cooper Square Hotel at Bowery and East 5th Street; and finally: an 80-foot mural covering the plywood shed at the Ace Hotel at the corner of Broadway and 29th Street. That's some savvy branding.
