How do I feel about this? Well, I'm conflicted...
You see, I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan, so my historic mortal enemy would the Montreal Canadiens (specifically, the fans), so it behooves me to root against the Canadiens in all situations... However, I also hate Alexander Ovechkin and the predominantly European make-up of the Capitals team (because in hockey, knee-jerk xenophobic boosterism is totally acceptable). On top of all this, a Canadian team hasn't won the Stanley Cup since 1993, so it's been a long time since any Canadian boy or girl has had the chance to watch his or her father cry openly. This is sad to me. So, despite the fact that this will mean a lot of ribbing from Canadiens fans (and Leafs fans who will see me as traitorous), I've gotta say I'm pretty happy that the Habs beat the Capitals last night.
That doesn't mean I want them to win the Stanley Cup, though, so yes, now I'll probably root for Pittsburgh.
