Tony Award noms won't be announced until tomorrow morning, but last night the Off-Broadway equivalent, the
Lucille Lortel Awards, were handed out at Terminal 5. The evening's biggest winner, Andrew Bovell's
When the Rain Stops Falling, took five prizes including Outstanding Director (David Cromer), Outstanding Featured Actress (Mary Beth Hurt, pictured, celebrating), scenic, sound and lighting design, but the Outstanding Play award went to Horton Foote's epic nine-parter
The Orphans' Home Cycle, while Outstanding Musical went to
The Scottsboro Boys, Roundabout Theatre Company's
The Glass Menagerie took Outstanding Revival and, in a bit of an upset, Colman Domingo's
A Boy and His Soul won the Outstanding Solo Show category. Meanwhile, the other major musical contender,
Yank!, is planning a
Broadway transfer next season, so will get a crack at the Tonys after their Lortel loss. (
