Eames Inspiration Street Art Chairs for Charity

A bunch of our favorite sometimes-Brooklyn-based street and graffiti artists have done custom paint, ink and mixed materials jobs on 20 classic Eames Molded Plywood Lounge Chairs that are currently being auctioned to raise money for Operation Design, including pieces by Elbow-Toe, Darkcloud, Skewville and Aakash Nihalani (above, left to right). Operation Design sets architects up with public school kids to design and build projects that will improve their schools. The starting bid on all their chairs is $1,000 (authentic Eames, people!), but they're also just pretty to look at. You can see them in person in the windows of Barney's on Madison at 61st up until the day the auction closes, June 1. (ArtInfo)
