was tipped off, then Brownstoner
did some digging, and now here are all the details: St. Marks haute-cuisine hot dog haven Crif Dogs
is opening a spot in Williamsburg, on the corner of Driggs and North 7th (right at the top of the subway staircase), in this former luncheonette
. Construction on the interior hasn't begun, but the Crif folks have reportedly applied for a liquor license, which maybe means that there will be another backroom speakeasy bar with sneaky phone booth access just like
at the East Village location? Regardless, this will fill a sorely under-served niche in American Nouveau-saturated Williamsburg, where there are so many amazing burger and BBQ places but not a single noteworthy hot dog. And perfectly located to grab as you stumble drunkenly out of/into the subway.
