Having a Hard Time Understanding the Magnitude the Gulf Oil Spill?

It's tough to understand vague descriptors like "barrels of oil" and "miles," but the website
IfItWasMyHome.com shows what it would be like if the
ongoing oil spill were centered on the city in which you live. The above screenshot is of Brooklyn, but you could
see it over Paris or anywhere, really. Conveniently, the site also has links to volunteer organizations, worthy groups accepting donations, ways to contact your representatives, and an EPA website that's accepting ideas about the clean-up (presumably for
visionary types only).
