Q'orianka Kilcher, who at 14 played Pocahontas in Terence Malick's
The New World, was
arrested on Tuesday for chaining herself to a fence outside the White House while her mother "poured a black substance over her," in apparent protest of a visit by Peruvian president Alan Garcia. Kilcher, whose father is a Peruvian indian, has been a supporter of the Peruvian indigenous leader
Alberto Pizango, recently
arrested following violent protests in Lima.
Reached for comment, Colin Farrell said of his former co-star's arrest, "We shall not return her kindness by making her a captive!"
