Sixpoint's Red Hook Brewery Has Crops and Chickens on the Roof

Rooftop farms aren't just for
North Brooklyn: the
Brooklyn Eagle reports that a recent tour of the
Sixpoint Brewery down in Red Hook included a visit to a thriving rooftop garden where founder Shane C. Welch grows all kinds of veggies, hop vines, and keeps four chickens.
Right now the spoils of that mini-farm (pictured) are mostly lunchtime treats for Sixpoint's eight employees grown in old kegs cut in half, but soon brewer Dan Suarez wants to incorporate the crops into a new brew. He told
BE: “I hope to make a botanical beer... I definitely want to brew at least a couple of beers with the stuff we have here.” Your move,
