Helpful Sidewalk Stencil Points Exiting Subway Riders North

Subway Compass stencil

Sure, there's probably an app for that, but disoriented subway riders exiting stations can stop looking up for landmarks (or into their smartphones) to regain their bearings: look down and you just might spot the work of an anonymous stencil artist (with a Facebook page) who's been tagging the tops of subway staircases all over Downtown Manhattan with compasses (pictured). NYC The Blog has a tally of recent sightings, which seems to suggest that there are many more subway compasses being stenciled on the street right now. It's the most practical sidewalk-augmenting idea since separate locals and tourists walking lanes!
