Watch This Interview With Our Favorite 8-Bit Video Game Artist, Mark Essen

Posted by on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 4:55 PM

Brooklyn-based indie video game artist Mark Essen is very enviable because he's reached some level of contemporary art stardom (he was in the New Museum's Generational, for instance) by creating really retro games whose visual simplicity allows for striking conceptual and gameplay experimentation. Here he is talking about his work, his ambitious plans for the future, and the time he launched an interactive attack on Business Week. He's not nearly as super-awkwardly nerdy as you'd expect a dude who makes a living designing video games by himself to be. (Rhizome)
