After a very successful, multiply extended (and
L-approved) run at the Public Theater, Alex Timbers'
Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson will begin performances on Broadway at West 45th Street's Bernard Jacobs Theatre on September 21. Benjamin Walker, who played Jackson when the historical rock musical opened at the Public last spring, will reprise the lead, and a full cast recording of the songs (by Michael Friedman) will be released around the same time. Nearby, another Public-produced period musical,
Hair, is still going strong after transferring from Central Park's Delacorte two summers ago. Could this be the Public's new money-making niche?
