Anonymous Street Artist Replaces Subway Sign Borough Names With Originals

Old Borough names on subway signs

Someone recently took to the subway with some stickers to replace borough names on MTA signage with their former spellings, like Breuckelen and Mannahatta, although s/he refrained from replacing Queens with Yorkshire or The Bronx with Bronck's Land, possibly because that would just have been way too confusing. It's almost as clever as the MTA's own recent signage fuck-up. If only there were a subway to Staten Island, maybe this mysterious signage time-warper would have changed it to "Staaten Eylandt," by far the best original Dutch borough name. (SubwayArtBlog)
