Last month, Jack "Skippy" McFadden, the much beloved booker of The Bell House and Union Hall, parted ways with the venues (a nicer way of saying "got fired") under circumstances that remain unclear, leaving the head talent-buyer position at both clubs up for grabs. The situation sucked all around. Bands reportedly jumped shipped to other venues to show their support for Skippy. Anonymous comments were posted on local blogs. Facebook pages were made. With Skippy now doing his thing at the new Bowery-affiliated Rock Shop in Park Slope, news comes today that Todd Abramson, currently the head booker for Maxwell's, will take over at The Bell House. He'll continue his work at Maxwell's in Hoboken, as well as dabble in some booking at the smaller-capacity Union Hall.

Maxwell's has certainly seen it's fair share of stellar shows at the hands of Abramson, encouraging bands to make a trip across the river and often filling the void between Mercury Lounge and Music Hall of Williamsburg, not to mention hosting Yo La Tengo's annual Too Many Days of Hanukkah to Count marathon of shows. Quite frankly, this seems like a really good fit. Congrats and good luck to both parties with their new endeavors. Now, let's get us some super secret Arcade Fire shows, k?
