On Friday the Guggenheim Museum sent out a press release announcing the art superstar jury that will oversee the inaugural edition of its
upcoming YouTube-hosted video art biennial,
YouTube Play. If anyone had doubted the legitimacy of crowdsourcing a video art exhibition through YouTube (and really, who hadn't?), these names should put most people's anxieties to rest:
Laurie Anderson,
Animal Collective,
Darren Aronofsky,
Douglas Gordon,
Ryan McGinley,
Marilyn Minter,
Takashi Murakami,
Shirin Neshat,
Stefan Sagmeister, and
Apichatpong Weerasethakul. The submission deadline for YouTube Play is Saturday July 31st, though, so if you want your work judged by some of the art world's best and brightest, you'd better get to work.
