New Les Savy Fav Album Out Now! Because It Leaked a Month Before Its Release Date! And They Were Afraid You'd Just Steal It!

Les Savy's Fav's new album, Root For Ruin, was originally scheduled for release on September 14th, but then it leaked this past weekend, and they've decided to make the record available digitally as of today. It's a perfectly reasonable response, and they've got to do whatever they can to get by, but I never quite know if this approach is all that effective. Is the type of person who knows that a Les Savy Fav record leaked also be the type of person who would cough up $8 to buy it from iTunes? I wouldn't think so. The type of person who'd download it illegally and then buy the vinyl when it eventually comes out? Yes, sure, to the extent that those people exist in any substantial amount. The type of person who'd download it illegally and then never actually pay for it in any format? Of course. Anyway, I don't know what the solution is, or that there even is one. So whatever: Root For Ruin is available today, and it's quite good. [Gigwise]
