Just over two years ago details were
revealed for a pier and drastically revamped Transmitter Park for the East River end of Greenpoint Avenue, but construction has finally gotten underway this week. Since opening
last summer it's been one of the city's wilder little parks, an urban jungle and open dirt field dotted with picnic tables affording amazing views of Midtown. The park revamp, with its budget of $10-$12 million, will feature a pair of covered picnic areas, some tidal inlets, a water park for the kids and connections to planned
nearby piers for brave fishermen. Check out two park plans after the jump.
