Actual Treehugging at City Hall, in Effort to Save Community Gardens

Posted by on Thu, Aug 5, 2010 at 11:33 AM

At this point in the political discourse, "treehugging" is a largely figurative expression of disdain used, I guess, by people who think trees are gross and interfere with the freedom of markets. So it was with no small pleasure that I watched the following video of a Time's Up activist climbing and hugging a City Hall tree in an effort to extract a promise from Bloomberg that the city's 600-odd community gardens won't be in any jeopardy come September 17th, when the provisional Garden Settlement expires. Because that would be a FUCKING CATASTROPHE. September 17th, people, mark it with a red X.
