Today we received a press release announcing the inaugural Bruise Cruise, set to sail February 25-28, 2011 from Miami to Nassau, Bahamas. Think of a tropical vacation, then think of a typical night at Death by Audio, then think of the Northside Music Festival — but think of it floating! — and then merge all the images into one. That's a rough sketch of what we think this will be like. The Black Lips, Vivian Girls, Strange Boys, Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Turbo Fruits and the soul-dance man himself, DJ Jonathan Toubin, are among the confirmed acts set to play while out at sea. You can also count on open-bar cocktail hours, hopefully with lots of tiny paper umbrellas, as well as a soul dance-off with cash prizes and a daily puppet show/storytelling hour over breakfast, plus all the typical luxuries that come with a Carnival cruise: gambling, spas, swimming pools, water slides, midnight buffets, etc. A limited amount of tickets ($500 for an interior cabin, $550 for an ocean view) are available here; contact info@bruisecruisefestival.com or 1-888-WE-GO-RELAX for more info.

And look, there's a party-vibe trailer:
