Laura Benanti
Laura Benanti, last seen starring in Lincoln Center's In The Next Room, or The Vibrator Play (pictured) on Broadway, and before that co-starring with Patti LuPone in Gypsy (for which they both won 2008 Tonys), will be joining LuPone and a half-dozen other famous stage performers for Lincoln Center's upcoming adaptation of Pedro Almodovar's 1988 film Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (opening October 2). Thus far, their esteemed co-stars will include Sherie Rene Scott, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Danny Burstein, de'Adre Aziza, Mary Beth Peil and Nikka Graff Lanzarone. You'll notice the conspicuous absences of Salma Hayek and Jessica Biel, both of whom participated in a private reading of the musical's early draft back in the fall of 2009. (BlogStage)
