Brooklyn, which had until recently been
losing as many independent movie theaters as genocided
geese, can't go a couple weeks without sprouting a new
independent cinema, the latest coming soon to a tiny storefront on South 3rd Street in Williamsburg. Brownstoner
reports that the as yet unnamed single-screen theater will take over what used to be a mini-market at 124 South 3rd (pictured), between Bedford and Berry, with programming tending heavily towards the subtitled. The optimistic opening date is only a couple weeks away, but what will they call it? Following the creative capitalization
trend, probably TINYscreen.
