News Ugly New Phallic Symbol Now Visible from Brooklyn

Slowly, surely, and with suspended Subway sandwich restaurant in tow, 1 World Trade Center (fka Freedom Tower) is coming into view on the Lower Manhattan skyline. WNYC files a pointless progress report, noting that the steel shaft is now 38 stories tall and visible from Jersey City and the Brooklyn Bridge (view pictured above). By the time it's done in two-and-three-quarter years, 1WTC will be 68 floors taller, making it the biggest symbol of capitalist delusion tallest building in the country. Yay! (Curbed)
