Yesterday the Brooklyn Museum
announced it would extend the institution's hours beginning in October, with a major focus on getting Brooklynites to come by on weekday evenings. The BK museum, which recently released worrisome
attendance figures despite efforts to reach new and younger audiences, will keep its 11-6 weekend hours, and will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday, but beginning October 6 the doors will stay open until 6pm on Wednesdays (instead of 5) and until 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays! That's just in time for two potentially very popular new exhibitions, a mid-career retrospective of
Fred Tomaselli and a sexy show of
women Pop artists. No more excuses for missing the Brooklyn Museum's by-and-large excellent programing!
