Tomorrow is Homeless Animal Day in NYC!

Posted by on Fri, Aug 20, 2010 at 5:13 PM

RIP Wam
Yup, tomorrow is Homeless Animal Day in NYC and No Kill New York is holding a candlelit vigil for all the shelter animals needlessly killed every year. (I'm looking at you stupid pet store on Broadway in Williamsburg that sells $800 puppies—for shame, Thank Dog, for shame.) Details about the vigil after the jump. [Pictured at right is a guy named Wam, who was put to death this year at the CACC. Poor guy.]

From the press release:

On August 21, 2010, compassionate groups and individuals around the world will commemorate the senseless killing of millions of homeless animals in private and municipal shelters and pounds. In NYC, join No Kill New York for a candlelight vigil at Animal Care & Control: 326 East 110th St. between 1st & 2nd Avenues.

No Kill New York is a coalition of individuals and groups dedicated to ending the abuse, the exploitation and the killing of animals. It is our primary mission to end the killing of animals in the NY Shelter System. We believe that animals have the inherent right to live, and to be treated with respect and dignity. No animal should be killed for any reason other than for dire and untreatable medical conditions. No animal should be treated as a disposable object.
