Earlier this year, we gave readers an early look inside indieScreen, the Williamsburg Waterfront's new movie theater and restaurant, and anticipated what a movie theater, finally, would mean for the neighborhood; we held the Northside Film Festival there in June, and have been keeping an eye on it since. Well.

This weekend, beginning tomorrow night, indiescreen begins its "soft opening," meaning that, after a summer of rentals and special events, the theater is ready to begin regular programming, with its restaurant up and running with an end-of-summer menu (the bar is still pending).

Looking at the indieScreen film listings for the month of September, we note a regular rotation of independently distributed arthouse fare from early in the year, playing in Brooklyn in case you never did get around to going into Manhattan to see I Am Love, Winnebago Man and so on. We'll be keeping an eye on their programming as it develops.
