Murakami Exhibition Storms Versailles, French Revolution 2.0 Somehow Does Not Ensue

Takashi Murakami at Versailles
Despite complaints from culturally myopic curators, Takashi Murakami's exhibition at Versailles (the third such installation by a contemporary artist in the former seat of the French monarchy outside Paris) has been installed, photographed and looks ready to open to the public on Tuesday.

Can't make it to Paris for the opening? No fear, ArtInfo's got a fairly comprehensive walk-through of the whole show, including tiny magic mushrooms in the Salon de Mercure, a parodic self-portrait in the Salon de Diane and, what the French feared most, a buxom babe in Salon de la guerre. The most fitting pieces appear to be a series of totem-like sculptures such as "Flower Matango," pictured in the Galerie des Glaces and perfectly fit for a king.
