Watch the British Save The Arts Campaign's Hilarious Short Animation by David Shrigley

Posted By on Mon, Sep 13, 2010 at 9:38 AM

Whereas the U.S., or perhaps just New York, art scene seems to be rebounding from its two-year slump fairly well (at least the 500 gallery openings this week and last make it seem that way), the UK is facing extreme arts cuts, with the government looking to slash funding to all the arts, across the board, by 25 percent.

A coalition of artists (including every famous British or UK-based living artist you can think of, from Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin on down to Rachel Whiteread and Richard Wright) have formed the Save the Arts campaign, and member David Shrigley made the funny video above to explain how two unprecedented decades of growth in the arts in the UK could be undone if the cut is passed.
